This activity involves things you and your child will love – learning, reading and spending time together to make a fun piece of art.
Thinking of all the things your children are learning during their formative years—from ABCs to writing, spelling and so much more—is downright dizzying. We believe young children learn well through play so we’re offering you a creative activity that marries language, literature and cuddle time as you enjoy The Very Hungry Caterpillar, a beloved classic children’s story.
Here’s what you’ll need.Â
The Very Hungry Caterpillar, by Eric Carle
Construction Paper:Â Yellow, Green and Red
Follow these simple instructions.
Step 1:Â Select the yellow background paper for your caterpillar. Cut out 1 red circle for the head and a green circle for each letter of your child’s name.
Step 2: Using 1 red circle, draw the caterpillar’s face. Using the green circles, have your child write each letter of their name on a circle. Next have your child place the letters in the correct order behind the head then glue them to the yellow paper. Let the glue dry.
Step 3:Â Use a green marker to color in grass.
Proudly display your child’s masterpiece in a common area of your home for your family to enjoy! This craft also makes a great display for your child’s bedroom door.
Thank you for reading along, as we work together in raising the next generation of amazing kids!
